Phosphorus Control Project at Candler Ranch

Chandler Hammock Slough near Okeechobee, Florida

Southern DataStream was contracted by Madrid Engineering to monitor performance of a phosphorus control demonstration project at Chandler Hammock Slough.  The project is funded by a grant from South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD) to Daniel and Marcia Candler.  The objective is to remove phosphorus from  runoff by directing water through baskets filled with an iron humate material.

Southern DataStream designed and installed a flow-integrating composite sampling system that monitors flow rate and collects water to be analyzed for phosphorus and iron content.  The system is equipped with a telemetry system that transfers data to the SDS office in Labelle every 20 minutes.
